I wrote him an email in which I questioned the use of styrofoam cups when drinking beer [some time ago now].
Good taste or bad, beer is a personal experience. If someone happens to think Coors Light is a good beer *deer caught in the headlights look* that is their prerogative. I don't happen to agree with the point of view but one is certainly entitled to one's opinion.
Styrofoam cups to drink beer from though... no. Like, really. NO. Poor it in a combat boot and drink it from that receptacle, flush out the nearly-empty can of paint thinner and good health to you!, drink it from a bottle of mouth wash if you have to. But styrofoam cups? Unacceptable. You have to have some standards. That's what I told Mike.
He didn't reply back.
He says: "Is it just me, or has somebody forgotten that beer is supposed to be a workingman's drink" and I have to disagree. Beer was a thinking man's drink because the tradition was started by monks as an alternative to drinking water [not a very safe practice in those days. Beer was healthier].
Ask a proprietor of a real beer house to serve Rochefort 10 in a styrofoam cup. You will hurt his feelings in the most profound way possible. It won't happen. He's much more likely to ask you to leave the premises. I know I would.
